Airbnb launches major expansion with airport pickups, luggage storage and AI-powered travel tools
Airbnb is expanding its services beyond home rentals to offer a wide range of travel services including airport pickups, grocery delivery, luggage storage, car rentals, boutique hotels, and exclusive travel experiences.
The company has partnered with Instacart for grocery delivery in over 25 US cities, Welcome Pickups for airport rides in over 160 cities worldwide, and Bounce for luggage storage at more than 15,000 locations globally. Airbnb also plans to introduce in-app car rentals later this summer.
“We want to bring a little bit of magic to every trip you’re on,” said Airbnb Chief Business Officer Dave Stephenson.
In addition to these services, Airbnb is adding boutique and independent hotels in major cities such as New York, Paris, London, Rome, and Singapore. The platform is also introducing new AI-powered features like review summaries, listing comparisons, and smarter customer support tools.
Furthermore, Airbnb now offers over 3,000 curated experiences worldwide, including tours to popular landmarks like the Tower of London, Tokyo Skytree, and the Taj Mahal. The company is also gearing up for the FIFA World Cup 2026 with exclusive fan events and athlete-led experiences.
Airbnb is also enhancing its social and group-planning tools, allowing users to view reservations, nearby attractions, and build shared itineraries. A new travel map and “connections” feature will be launched later this summer, enabling users to see where their friends have stayed, browse their reviews, and message them for travel tips.
The new services and hotel offerings are currently available in select markets, with car rentals and additional app features set to be rolled out in the coming months.
