Brandon Aiyuk admits social media antics will continue despite 49ers standoff
Brandon Aiyuk Continues Social Media Campaign Amid NFL Drama
Brandon Aiyuk, the wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, shows no signs of backing down from his controversial social media presence, despite the criticism and scrutiny it has garnered. In fact, Aiyuk seems determined to double down on his online activities, which have turned his NFL future into one of the most peculiar offseason sagas in the league.
In a recent post, Aiyuk addressed the backlash he has received for his online behavior, stating, “If I get a job back in the NFL, I’ll still be on my bulls–t on social media.” This defiant stance comes after weeks of posts aimed at the 49ers, his contract situation, and potential future teams. Aiyuk has even accused the 49ers of misleading fans and media about the voiding of his contract guarantees, claiming that the decision had been made months before it was publicly disclosed.
Aiyuk’s social media campaign has also included a public flirtation with the Washington Commanders, a connection that seems logical given his history with quarterback Jayden Daniels at Arizona State and the presence of Adam Peters, who was with the 49ers when Aiyuk was drafted in 2020. However, even this effort has hit a snag, with Aiyuk recently calling out Daniels in a post, creating further complications in his pursuit of a reunion with the Commanders quarterback.
The public nature of Aiyuk’s social media antics has raised concerns about whether any team would be willing to take on the potential drama that comes with him, despite his undeniable talent. Additionally, Aiyuk has not played in an NFL game for almost two years, further complicating his situation.
Colin Cowherd has used Aiyuk’s situation to criticize the 49ers, suggesting that the team has struggled to move on from injured or drama-prone players, leading to an aging, expensive roster.
While Aiyuk may see social media as a tool for gaining leverage or securing another payday, it remains to be seen if his approach will ultimately be successful. One thing is clear, however – Aiyuk’s online presence is here to stay, whether it helps or hinders his NFL future.
