Comedian Greg Davies to Host 2026 BAFTA Television Awards

Comedian Greg Davies has been announced as the new host of the BAFTA TV Awards 2026, taking over from Alan Cumming. Davies, known for his role as Mr. Gilbert in “The Inbetweeners” and as the host of “Taskmaster,” will preside over the ceremony on Sunday, May 10 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The event will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer later that evening.

Davies expressed his excitement about hosting the prestigious awards show, stating, “I see the whole event as an opportunity to wave a flag for this beloved medium and, with the exception of one commissioner, two execs and a co-star that I have personal beef with, I will do everything I can to ensure it’s a night of warm celebration for all.”

This year’s BAFTA TV Awards is expected to face additional scrutiny following the controversy surrounding the BAFTA Film Awards. During the film awards, Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson inadvertently used a racial slur during the ceremony, which was not edited out of the broadcast. Cumming, who hosted the film awards, was asked to apologize for Davidson’s language. He also hosted the TV awards last year.

Cumming addressed the controversy on Instagram, apologizing for the pain caused by the slur and acknowledging the lack of understanding towards the Tourettes community. He criticized the decision to broadcast the slur while censoring free speech.

The nominees for the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated event.
