Daniel Boulud’s Le Pavillon celebrates 5th anniversary — and deserves credit for saving NYC dining from pandemic

Boulud, along with Sebastien Silvestri, CEO of Dinex Group, approached then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo and then-Mayor Bill de Blasio demanding a guarantee of full seating capacity before opening Le Pavillon. This led to the restoration of full seating capacity, which was crucial for the restaurant’s success amidst economically challenging times.
Despite the challenges of a predominantly empty city due to office buildings being unoccupied, Le Pavillon stood out as a beacon of hope for the future of Midtown.
