International supermarket in San Jose caters to influencer crowd
An exciting new development in the Bay Area has food enthusiasts buzzing with anticipation as the Canadian-based T&T Supermarket recently opened its doors in San Jose. The grand opening of the Asian-themed grocery store at the Westgate Center was met with a wave of social media fanfare, as influencers were given an exclusive sneak peek inside the first California location.
Before the store welcomed its first customers, content creators took to social media platforms like TikTok to showcase some of the unique products available at T&T Supermarket. From popular Chinese street foods to Taiwanese style sticky rice rolls, the influencers provided close-up shots of the store’s offerings, including huge sushi plates, dim sum, bao, traditional sticky rice, and viral mango egg tarts.
According to the company, the store features thousands of products representing Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian, and other Asian cuisines. Customers can expect to find a wide range of items, including ready-to-eat meals, Asian beauty products, fresh produce, baked goods, and private-label products such as pork soup dumplings, green onion pancakes, kalbi sauces, and Taiwanese-style sausage.
The CEO of T&T Supermarket, Tina Lee, expressed excitement about the opening of the San Jose location, noting that it has been long-anticipated. She emphasized that the store aims to offer more than just high-quality foods but also a new way of life centered around food and tradition.
The San Jose store is just the first of several planned locations in the Bay Area, with additional stores set to open in San Francisco and Newark later this year, followed by a third location in Millbrae next year. T&T Supermarket, founded in Vancouver in 1993, has expanded to operate more than 39 stores across Canada and the United States, with its first US store opening in Bellevue, Washington, in 2024.
