Judges Rules on Taylor Frankie Paul, Dakota Protective Order
A recent court ruling has shed light on the ongoing legal battle between Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. The judge presiding over the case expressed concerns about the toxic nature of their relationship, labeling it as “beyond the pale” and urging them to prioritize their child’s well-being.
During a protective order hearing on April 30, the judge issued mutual protective orders for both Paul and Mortensen, requiring them to stay 100 feet away from each other. The judge emphasized the need for the former couple to focus on co-parenting their child and to shield him from the ongoing conflict.
Describing the relationship between Paul and Mortensen as dysfunctional, the judge highlighted the importance of setting a positive example for their child. He acknowledged the presence of violence in their past interactions and urged them to work on themselves for the sake of their son.
The judge refrained from making a decision on the supervision aspect of the case, expressing concerns about the potential for manipulation and control if supervision were lifted. Paul had previously lost custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever, in April following allegations of domestic violence. She was granted supervised visitations for eight hours per week.
In March, Utah police opened an investigation into Paul and Mortensen after an altercation between the two. Paul denied the allegations made by Mortensen, stating her commitment to being a good mother to her children.
Following the incident, Mortensen was granted a temporary protective order against Paul, awarding him sole custody of Ever and prohibiting contact between the exes. Paul also obtained a restraining order against Mortensen.
Despite the legal battles, charges were not pressed against Paul by the police. A source close to her expressed optimism about her ability to bounce back from the situation and viewed the lack of charges as a small victory.
Mortensen later issued a statement expressing his perspective on the events. As the legal proceedings continue, both Paul and Mortensen are navigating the complexities of their relationship and focusing on co-parenting their child amidst ongoing turmoil. As a parent, my focus now is where it should have been all along – on my son and creating a stable, healthy environment for him moving forward. I regret not stepping away from the difficult cycle sooner and take full accountability for my part in it. I am sincerely sorry to those I have hurt along the way. However, I do not agree with how this situation has been portrayed publicly as it does not reflect the full context of what occurred or the impact it has had on me and my son.
In February 2023, I was arrested after a separate domestic violence incident with my partner, where I pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault as part of a plea deal to dismiss additional charges related to child abuse. Following this, I was placed on probation. The footage from the altercation in 2023 was leaked in March, showing me physically assaulting and throwing chairs at my partner in front of my daughter.
Moving forward, my priority is to ensure the well-being and safety of my son. I am committed to creating a healthy and stable environment for him to thrive in. I acknowledge my past mistakes and am taking the necessary steps to learn from them and make positive changes in my life. I understand the impact of my actions and am dedicated to seeking help and support to become a better parent and role model for my son.
