Longtime ESPN personality Clinton Yates out at network after a decade

Clinton Yates Departs ESPN Amid Network Shakeups

Clinton Yates is no longer part of ESPN following the latest changes within the network. Yates’ role on the national radio network and ESPN is coming to an end as part of the adjustments to its 10 a.m. to noon ET programming window, as reported by Awful Announcing.

Moreover, Yates will also be concluding his work as a senior writer with Andscape, with no future projects planned for the platform. ESPN expressed their gratitude to Yates for his contributions and wished him continued success in a statement to Awful Announcing.

Yates also confirmed his departure from the network through a brief post on social media, stating, “That’s showbiz, kiddos. Happy Friday.”

Yates initially joined ESPN in 2016 as part of the editorial team that launched Andscape, formerly known as The Undefeated. Over the years, he became a regular on “Around the Horn,” co-hosted “The Morning Roast,” and served as the full-time host of “ESPN Daily” until its cancellation in February 2025.

Following the discontinuation of “ESPN Daily,” Yates took to social media to hint at his departure from the network and directed his audience to his new home on ESPN Radio. Prior to his ESPN tenure, Yates spent nine years at The Washington Post covering sports, politics, and culture.

Yates’ exit from ESPN is part of a series of departures, with longtime tennis announcers Pam Shriver and Brad Gilbert also being let go by the network in January. Shriver and Gilbert had been with ESPN for over two decades and were released ahead of the 2026 Australian Open.

Upon her departure, Shriver expressed gratitude for her time at ESPN, recalling her first experience with the network during the Australian Open in 1990. She also extended her thoughts to the victims of the Eaton & Palisades Fire on its one-year anniversary.
