Nithya Raman offers bizarre excuse for bailing on TV interviews days before blockbuster election
Less than a week before the highly-anticipated Election Day, the Los Angeles mayoral race took an unexpected turn when candidate Nithya Raman abruptly canceled her interview with a local TV station due to a “tongue injury.” The Democratic socialist was scheduled to appear on KTLA, but her team pulled out last minute, citing the unusual reason for their withdrawal.
KTLA anchor Micah Ohlman addressed the situation during the broadcast, expressing disappointment at Raman’s absence and revealing that Mayor Karen Bass had also declined multiple invitations to appear on the show. The sudden turn of events left many wondering about the true reason behind Raman’s last-minute cancellation.
As the primary election on June 2nd draws near, the race between the top contenders – Bass, Raman, and reality TV star Spencer Pratt – is intensifying. The latest UC Berkeley-Los Angeles Times poll shows Mayor Karen Bass leading with 26% of the vote, closely followed by Nithya Raman at 25% and Spencer Pratt at 22%. This tight margin indicates a significant shift in momentum for both Raman and Pratt, who have seen an eight-point increase in support since March.
Raman has been critical of Bass’s “Inside Safe” homelessness program, labeling it as ineffective and costly. On the other hand, Pratt has been vocal in his criticism of Bass’s handling of the Palisades Fire and has promised to fast-track the rebuilding process for those affected by the disaster. Bass, in turn, has questioned Raman’s ability to collaborate with colleagues in City Hall and has raised doubts about Pratt’s qualifications for the mayoral role, given his background in reality television.
With the election just days away, voters will soon have the opportunity to decide the future leadership of Los Angeles. The intense competition between the candidates and the unexpected twists in the campaign have kept the public on edge, eagerly awaiting the final results. As the city braces for a potentially game-changing election, all eyes are on the mayoral race to see who will emerge victorious and lead Los Angeles into the future.
