Parents charged after infant, brother found with bruises, bug bites and no running water in Philly horror home: ‘Horrible stench’
Thomas Bach, 43, and Megan Bach, 44, were arrested after their two young children were found living amongst dozens of animals in a horrendous Pennsylvania home. The FBI agents uncovered the squalid conditions while executing a search warrant at the Northeast Philadelphia residence of the Bachs over alleged terroristic threats made against the White House.
During the search, agents discovered deplorable living conditions inside the home, including feces, fleas, piles of trash, and no running water. Two children, aged 5 and 8 months, were found covered in bug bites and bruises and were immediately taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
In addition to the children, a total of 38 cats and a dog were rescued from the property, with the Pennsylvania SPCA stating that more cats are likely to be removed in the coming days. Hazmat teams were called in to deal with the strong odor emanating from the house, and crews dressed in full protective gear were seen entering the boarded-up residence.
Neighbors had previously reported noticing a foul smell coming from the home, with one neighbor, Vex Holmquist, stating that the stench of kitty litter and other odors was noticeable even from across the street. Despite living nearby, Holmquist revealed that she had never seen the Bachs come out of the house.
Following the discovery of the appalling living conditions, the Bachs were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, criminal conspiracy, possession of an instrument of crime, and possession of an offensive weapon. The children have been placed in the care of the Department of Human Services as authorities continue to investigate the case.
The Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia FBI office have not yet provided further details on the nature of the alleged terroristic threats. The investigation into the Bachs and the conditions in which their children were found continues as the community grapples with the shocking revelations from inside the squalid home.
