Riders left dangling 260 feet in the air on Georgia Six Flags ‘SkyScreamer’ ride

A horrifying incident at Six Flags Over Georgia left riders stranded on the SkyScreamer swing ride, dangling over 200 feet in the air due to a technical delay. The incident, which occurred on June 14, was captured in a video that circulated on social media, showing frightened passengers, including children, stuck in their seats high above the ground.

In the video, one rider can be heard expressing their fear and frustration, questioning why they were stuck in the air. Another rider, content creator David Early, recounted the terrifying experience of being stranded for roughly 10 minutes with his friend. As the ride came to a sudden halt, panic set in among the passengers, with children crying and Early’s friend becoming scared.

Early turned to prayer during the ordeal, seeking comfort in his faith as they waited for the ride to resume. Eventually, the SkyScreamer started moving again, safely bringing the passengers back to the ground. Initially, Six Flags Over Georgia claimed that the video was from 2025, but later confirmed the incident on June 14 as a “technical delay.”

According to a park spokesperson, the safety system of the ride functioned as designed, ensuring the well-being of all guests. After a thorough check of the systems, the ride was back in operation, and passengers were able to exit safely. Despite the frightening experience, Early returned to the park and rode the SkyScreamer without any issues.

One guest, however, expressed hesitation about riding amusement park rides in the future after the incident. The ordeal serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and protocols in place at theme parks to protect guests. While accidents can happen, it is crucial for parks to prioritize the safety of their visitors to prevent similar incidents in the future.
