Shooting After Knicks Game 5 Win Leaves One Injured, Cops Say

The New York Knicks made headlines not just for their Game 5 NBA Finals victory, but also for a shooting incident that occurred in Times Square during the post-game celebrations. The chaotic night in New York City led to one teenager being injured in the midst of the revelry.

Law enforcement sources revealed that the shooting took place around 43rd Street and Broadway, where a 17-year-old victim was shot. The NYPD had to transport the injured teenager to the hospital themselves as emergency vehicles were unable to access the area due to the massive crowds that had taken over the streets.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, and three individuals are currently in custody as the investigation continues. In addition to the shooting, there were reports of four slashings and stabbings across Manhattan as the celebrations spilled into the streets, making crowd control increasingly difficult for authorities.

The chaotic scene continued as groups of individuals reportedly set fire to or damaged five school buses by climbing on them and striking them with bats. Large crowds also overwhelmed major intersections, refusing to disperse and effectively blocking vehicular traffic in key parts of the city.

While the Knicks’ victory sparked massive celebrations across New York, officials are now faced with the aftermath of a night that was a mix of jubilation and serious criminal activity unfolding in multiple locations. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges law enforcement faces in managing large gatherings and ensuring public safety during times of celebration.
