Tiger Woods’ lawyer vows to fight subpoena for prescription records in DUI case
Tiger Woods’ attorney is pushing back against prosecutors’ attempts to subpoena the golfer’s prescription drug records in the wake of his recent arrest in Florida for suspected driving under the influence. Attorney Doug Duncan argues that Woods has a constitutional right to privacy when it comes to his medical information and is requesting a hearing to determine if the drug records are essential to the criminal investigation.
If the judge deems the drug records necessary, Duncan is asking for a protective order to limit access to the records to prosecutors, law enforcement officials, state experts, and Woods’ defense team. Woods has maintained his innocence in the DUI case, where deputies found pain pills in his possession and observed signs of impairment after his SUV collided with a truck and overturned.
According to a sheriff’s office report, Woods was driving at high speeds in a residential area with a speed limit of 30 mph when the incident occurred. Despite passing a Breathalyzer test for alcohol, he refused to take a urine test. Prosecutors are now seeking all prescription medication records for Woods from a pharmacy in Palm Beach dating back to the beginning of the year.
In addition to the drug records, prosecutors are also demanding that Woods disclose the names and locations of any witnesses he plans to call in his defense. The legal battle surrounding Woods’ DUI arrest continues to unfold as his attorney fights to protect his privacy rights while prosecutors seek evidence to build their case.
