Trans woman charged with threatening cop’s wife on Long Island, police say

A recent incident in Suffolk County, Long Island, involved a transgender woman named Beatrix Lacroix from Deer Park. Lacroix was arrested for harassing the family of a Suffolk County police officer who had arrested her the previous year for fleeing the scene of a car crash. The incident occurred on October 23 and resulted in Lacroix facing 12 charges, including speeding and running stop signs.

According to Suffolk police, Lacroix made a harassing phone call to the wife of the officer who arrested her in May. Two days after the call was made, Lacroix was taken into custody and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment. It was also reported that she sent a text implying she knew where the officer lived, and photos of his home were found on her phone.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina condemned the actions, stating that officers should be able to carry out their duties without fear of intimidation or retaliation against them or their families. He emphasized that any attempts to target the personal lives of officers are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Lacroix was arraigned on May 19 at First District Court in Central Islip and was given a future court date. An order of protection was granted to the cop’s family to ensure their safety.

Suffolk County PBA President Lou Civello expressed concern over the incident, calling it “chilling” that a criminal could threaten a family member of the arresting officer. He highlighted the need for tougher laws to prosecute and prevent such crimes, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of police officers and their families.

The incident serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, as well as the importance of protecting their families from potential threats. It also underscores the need for strong measures to address and prevent harassment and retaliation against those who serve and protect the community.
