Mango founder Isak Andic’s son arrested in his death

Investigation into the Death of Mango Founder Intensifies with Arrest of Son

Madrid— The son of Isak Andic, the billionaire founder of the Spanish fashion brand Mango, has been arrested in northeastern Spain for his alleged involvement in his father’s death. Isak Andic, 71, tragically passed away in December 2024 while hiking with his son, Jonathan Andic, in the mountains near Barcelona. Jonathan, 45, was the sole witness to the incident.

An initial investigation into the incident was closed shortly after, but it was reopened in March 2025. By October of the same year, authorities confirmed that Isak Andic’s death was being treated as a possible homicide. Jonathan Andic was brought to court facilities in Martorell, where the case is being examined under a nondisclosure order.

A spokesperson for the Andic family confirmed that Jonathan Andic is cooperating with the investigation and maintains his innocence. He is the eldest of Isak Andic’s three children and serves as the vice chairman of Mango’s board, a prominent retailer in Spain. Isak Andic, who moved to Spain from Turkey at a young age, founded Mango in 1984, transforming it into one of Europe’s leading fast fashion brands.

Mango currently operates 2,900 stores in 120 markets worldwide, with a record revenue of nearly 3.8 billion euros ($4.4 billion) in 2025, marking an 11% increase from the previous year.
