Two YouTubers arrested after allegedly sneaking past security at Colombia-Portugal World Cup game: cops
Two YouTubers are facing serious consequences after allegedly sneaking past multiple layers of security at the Colombia-Portugal World Cup game in Miami. Argentine content creators Beni Marmol, 20, and Pato Perrotta, 26, were among 16 individuals arrested at Hard Rock Stadium during the final Group K match. According to Miami-Dade Sheriffs, Marmol and Perrotta managed to bypass three layers of security using expired credentials.
When questioned by authorities, Marmol claimed to be an influencer attempting to stream the game, while Perrotta stated that he was hired by a media company to review the event but had credentials from a previous event. Both YouTubers are now facing felony charges of illegally interfering with a sporting event, which could result in a sentence of up to five years in prison.
Walter Costabel, the influencer’s manager, reassured the public that “the guys are fine” and are not facing deportation. However, they are prohibited from being near stadiums where World Cup matches are taking place. Perrotta and Marmol have substantial followings on YouTube, with Perrotta boasting over 500,000 subscribers and Marmol with over 270,000.
Florida authorities have been cracking down on trespassing individuals at sports events, especially after the 2024 Copa America final, where numerous arrests were made. It is now a third-degree felony to enter ticketed events with more than 5,000 attendees without proper authorization. The Colombia-Portugal game had a sold-out crowd of 64,478, with over five million ticket requests. Ticket prices were exorbitant, with some fans paying $1,000 or more to see Cristiano Ronaldo play.
Despite the high demand for tickets, the game ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw, with Colombia finishing ahead of Portugal in Group K. Portugal is set to face Croatia in the round of 32 in Toronto, while Colombia will compete against Ghana in Kansas City. The incident involving Marmol and Perrotta serves as a reminder of the strict security measures in place at major sporting events.
