Disney closing more attractions ahead of summer season
Disneyland visitors planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth may need to adjust their plans as several popular attractions are set to close for routine refurbishments in the coming weeks. Among the rides that will be temporarily shut down are “Pirates of the Caribbean” and the Blue Bayou restaurant, as well as Pixie Hollow and the “Fantasmic” show.
According to the Disneyland website, “Pirates of the Caribbean” will close on May 4 and is expected to reopen in early June. The Blue Bayou restaurant, which offers diners an immersive experience in the world of the ride, will be closed from May 4 to May 20. Pixie Hollow will have limited availability in May, with closures on Tuesdays and Thursdays until June 7. The “Fantasmic” show will be closed on select weekdays in May and will return on May 22 for the summer season.
Other recent closures at the park include Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Silly Symphony Swings, and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, all of which are expected to reopen by early June. The famed Disneyland Monorail, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin have already reopened after being closed for several months.
Despite the closures, there is good news for park visitors as several other attractions, such as the Sailing Ship Columbia and Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, have recently reopened. The ships set sail again on May 2, with the pirate’s lair reopening on May 8.
