Fugitive wanted over Monaco bombing found shot dead in Ukraine: reports

The suspect behind the Monaco bombing that injured a sanctioned Ukrainian oligarch and a woman has been found dead in Ukraine, according to reports. Anastasiia Berezovska’s body was discovered near Kyiv, and two suspects have been detained in connection with the case.

Anastasiia Berezovska, a Ukrainian native, returned to Ukraine last Wednesday after being out of the country for over a year. She was accused of targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, 58, by detonating a makeshift bomb at the entrance of his building in Monaco. Berezovska was named by authorities on Friday, and an Interpol “red notice” was issued for her arrest on charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy.

Initially, police believed a man wearing a bucket hat had carried out the attack. However, it was later revealed that Berezovska planted an explosive-packed backpack outside Yermolaiev’s apartment and detonated it with a remote control. She used a car rented in Germany to flee the area, eventually making her way to Switzerland before returning to Germany.

The explosion injured Vadym Yermolaiev and the woman he was with, Anna Nasobina, who lost her legs in the attack. Nasobina, accompanied by her 13-year-old son, was present when the bomb detonated. Yermolaiev, a multi-millionaire living in Monaco, faced sanctions from Kyiv related to his alcohol business activities in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Yermolaiev, one of the wealthiest tycoons in Ukraine with interests in commercial real estate, manufacturing, and agriculture, renounced his Ukrainian citizenship in 2017 and became a citizen of Cyprus. His eldest son, Artur, was arrested in Cyprus last year for allegedly organizing fraudulent call centers targeting Europeans.

The investigation into the Monaco bombing continues, with authorities in Ukraine working to unravel the circumstances surrounding Anastasiia Berezovska’s death. The two suspects detained in connection with the case are currently under scrutiny, shedding light on the tragic events that unfolded in Monaco.
