Connecticut jam band Goose was left in shock after learning that a married father of two had tragically fallen to his death at their Madison Square Garden concert. The band was just getting off stage when they received the devastating news.
The victim, Paul Kueker, 51, plunged 150 feet from the Chase Bridge during Goose’s performance at the iconic venue. The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, during the second night of the band’s two-night stint at Madison Square Garden.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday evening, Goose expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic events that unfolded at their show. The band acknowledged the impact of the news on both their crew and fans, emphasizing the profound sadness they felt upon learning of Kueker’s passing.
Paul Kueker, the director of operations at energy management company Smartcon Solutions, was attending the concert with his wife, Kristen, to celebrate their upcoming 25th anniversary. According to reports, Kueker fell from the third level inside Madison Square Garden while going to use the restroom.
Emergency services found Kueker unconscious and unresponsive after the fall and rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His mother, Patricia Finelli, described him as a compassionate and caring individual who always put others before himself.
Following the tragic incident, Goose paid tribute to Kueker by observing a 15-second moment of silence at their subsequent concert at Central Park’s SummerStage. Band member Peter Anspach addressed the audience, offering condolences to Kueker’s family and friends and emphasizing the importance of supporting one another during difficult times.
Despite the immense grief and shock, Goose made the decision to proceed with their Central Park concert as a way to bring their community together and provide a space for healing. The band urged fans to reach out for support if needed and announced plans to offer online therapy sessions facilitated by grief counselors and licensed therapists.
The tragic loss of Paul Kueker has left a profound impact on the members of Goose and their fans. The band’s commitment to supporting those affected by the tragedy underscores the power of music in bringing people together during times of sorrow.
