Horde of teens pummel South Carolina cops breaking up July 4th party in wild brawl

The chaos that unfolded in South Carolina on the Fourth of July was truly shocking. A group of unruly teens engaged in a violent brawl with police officers who were trying to break up a dangerous celebration in the North Charleston neighborhood of Chicora-Cherokee. Gunshots and fireworks were being launched at passing cars, prompting the officers to intervene.

North Charleston Police Chief Ron Camacho issued a plea for help from the community, emphasizing the dangerous situation that was unfolding. The celebration had initially been permitted by the city, with plans in place for parking and traffic. However, as night fell, the atmosphere turned hostile with reports of gunfire and reckless behavior from partygoers.

Despite their efforts to disperse the crowd, the officers were met with resistance. Fights broke out, and gunshots rang out, escalating the situation. When the police attempted to intervene, they were attacked by the partygoers. Videos obtained by WSCS showed officers being stomped to the ground by a group of teens, with one officer being pushed to the ground and assaulted.

In the midst of the chaos, four individuals – three juveniles and one adult – were arrested at the scene. Additionally, four guns, including two automatic weapons, and a homemade spear were recovered by the police. Chief Camacho expressed his frustration at the behavior of the adolescents, calling it the most difficult situation he has encountered in his policing career.

During a press conference, Chief Camacho called on the community to work together with the police department to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. It is clear that cooperation and support from the community are essential in maintaining safety and order in neighborhoods like Chicora-Cherokee.
