Iowa Anchor Dustin Nolan Calls Out ‘Sanitized News’ as He Quits on Air

KWQC Anchor Dustin Nolan Bids Emotional Farewell to Quad City Audience

KWQC anchor Dustin Nolan delivered a heartfelt on-air goodbye to his Quad City audience, announcing on Friday that he has made the decision to step away from the news industry. In his farewell address, Nolan emphasized the importance of journalism in challenging viewers to think beyond their comfort zones and engage with the world around them.

“I have chosen to step away from the news industry,” Nolan shared. “Before I bid farewell, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you who has allowed me to be a part of your mornings. It has been a privilege to bring you the news and I want you to know how much I value the trust you have placed in me over the years. I have always strived to be transparent and deliver the facts to you, just as I am.”

Nolan continued, “I firmly believe that as a local news station, we owe it to our viewers to provide them with the best possible coverage. We must go beyond surface-level reporting and sanitized news that may make people uncomfortable. It is our duty to present the facts and challenge individuals to expand their perspectives on the world we all inhabit.”

Based in Davenport, Iowa, KWQC serves the Quad Cities region, encompassing Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, as well as Rock Island and Moline in Illinois. Nolan, who joined the station in 2022, has been a familiar face delivering news to the community.

In a touching moment, Nolan expressed his appreciation for his co-anchor, Jenna, who is also his wife. “The most challenging aspect of leaving this job is knowing that I won’t have the opportunity to work alongside Jenna any longer. She is not only an exceptional co-anchor on the news desk but also my partner in life,” Nolan shared in his sign-off.
