Kalshi is building a Bloomberg terminal for prediction markets

Kalshi, a prediction market platform, is in the process of developing a new interface for its traders to monitor the company’s prediction markets. This new interface is being compared to the “Bloomberg Terminal” for traditional equities and derivatives and is currently in alpha testing with a select group of traders.

Some of the features of the new interface include tracking popular contracts by 24-hour volumes, the ability to see all trades as they are actively being placed, viewing individual contracts’ order books, and customizing interfaces to see event contracts related to their own portfolios. Traders will also have the ability to manage multiple positions in varying markets simultaneously and can enable an option to reduce the friction to place trades.

The purpose of this new interface is to cater to Kalshi’s most engaged retail traders, also known as “sharps,” who typically use custom workflows to enhance their trades and gain an edge in the market. It is still unclear whether Kalshi plans to monetize the platform in the future.

In addition to the new interface, Kalshi may also include research and external information in its platform in the long term, similar to Bloomberg’s product serving Wall Street traders and investors. Currently, Kalshi’s market data is accessible on Bloomberg’s platform.

While the focus of the new interface will be on prediction markets, there are plans to extend it to the company’s other asset classes in the future. Recently, Kalshi announced the approval to offer perpetual futures on cryptocurrencies and launched the American Power Index, a real-time measure of political power using Kalshi’s data.

There is no specific timeline provided for the official launch of the new terminal product. It is important to note that CNBC and Kalshi have a commercial relationship that includes customer acquisition and a minority investment.

Stay tuned for more updates on Kalshi’s new interface and the exciting developments in the prediction market industry.
