Magic the Gathering Hobbit Card Spoilers, Marvel Super Heroes
Wizards of the Coast, the creator of the popular trading card game Magic: The Gathering, made some exciting announcements during the first day of MagicCon 2026 in Las Vegas. One of the highlights was the unveiling of new card sets, including collaborations with Marvel and J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit.”
The Magic: The Gathering-Marvel Super Heroes set is the latest addition to the ongoing partnership between Marvel and Wizards of the Coast. This set will bring together iconic characters from the Marvel Universe, reimagined through Magic’s gameplay. The release date for this set is scheduled for June 26.
During the event, MCU star Paul Bettany, known for his role as The Vision in the Marvel movies, revealed a new card called “The Mind Stone.” This card marks the next chapter in the Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes journey. Bettany also had the honor of adding a Mind Stone gem to a real-life version of the Infinity Gauntlet designed by East Continental Gems for Marvel.
Another exciting announcement was the upcoming “The Hobbit” set, set to be released on August 14. This set will feature cards inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic tale, blending rich storytelling with strategic gameplay. Players will embark on an adventure alongside familiar characters like Bilbo Baggins, encountering trolls, riddles, and the fearsome dragon Smaug.
Both the Marvel and “Hobbit” sets are part of Magic’s “Universes Beyond” collection, which introduces third-party intellectual properties into the game. Additionally, Wizards of the Coast teased the upcoming “Reality Fracture” set, the conclusion of a storyline that began with the Wilds of Eldraine set three years ago. They also announced a new trading card game called “Mood Swings” by Magic’s head designer Mark Rosewater, as well as a cat-themed “Secret Lair” drop coming on June 15.
Fans can look forward to these new card sets and expansions that promise to bring fresh and exciting gameplay experiences to Magic: The Gathering. Stay tuned for more updates and reveals from MagicCon 2026.
