Man charged with beating, robbing Bally’s employee inside casino restroom

A 32-year-old man from Beach Park, Abraham Pozo, is facing robbery charges after allegedly participating in a violent attack and robbery of a Bally’s Chicago employee at the company’s temporary River North casino last year. The incident took place on December 29 at 600 North Wabash Avenue, where prosecutors stated that Pozo and three other assailants confronted a 26-year-old employee in a restroom.

The victim was washing his hands around 2 a.m. when a group of men asked him about his gang affiliation. When he stated he was not in a gang, he was blocked from leaving the restroom and subjected to punches and kicks from multiple individuals, including Pozo. The attackers demanded the victim’s watch, which Pozo allegedly removed from his wrist before fleeing the scene in a silver Honda.

Surveillance footage from the casino showed Pozo and the other suspects entering the premises and presenting identification. Pozo’s passport scan confirmed his presence at the time of the robbery. Despite initial difficulties in identifying Pozo in a photo lineup, investigators were able to apprehend him after his arrest on a separate battery charge at Soldier Field. Witnesses positively identified Pozo from surveillance images, leading to his detention on a felony robbery charge by Judge Luciano Panici, Jr.

Following the incident, a spokesperson for Bally’s Chicago issued a statement expressing concern for the safety of guests and staff. The casino is cooperating with authorities and regulatory bodies to address the matter and ensure a secure environment for all visitors.
