North Carolina illegal immigrant Jaime Santiago Corona charged with killing girl, 6, after running stop sign
Illegal Immigrant with Multiple Deportations Kills 6-Year-Old Girl in Car Crash
An illegal immigrant from Mexico, Jaime Santiago Corona, caused a tragic car accident in Pitt County, North Carolina, last week. The collision resulted in the death of 6-year-old Calli Toler and serious injuries to her mother, Kelli Toler, and her 4-year-old sibling.
Corona, who had multiple deportations and a revoked license, was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck when he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into Kelli Toler’s SUV. The family was on their way to get lunch before heading to a swimming pool when the accident occurred.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis expressed condolences to the Toler family and emphasized that the tragedy could have been prevented. Corona is facing charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to stop for a stop sign, careless and reckless driving, and driving with a revoked license.
It was revealed that Corona had illegally reentered the US three times, a felony offense according to DHS. Additionally, he has a history of driving under the influence. A detainer hold has been issued by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed their cooperation with ICE in handling the case.
The community mourns the loss of young Calli Toler and stands in solidarity with her family during this difficult time. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of upholding traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
