Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding rumors fuel millions in bets on prediction markets

The rumored wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has sparked a frenzy of excitement and speculation among fans and bettors alike. While there has been no official confirmation of the nuptials taking place, prediction markets are ablaze with activity as more than $2 million has been wagered on the potential location of the couple’s wedding.

Jonathan Cohen, the gambling policy lead at the American Institute for Boys and Men, commented on the phenomenon, stating, “Prediction markets are filling this void in our society of turning every single thing into a gambling contract. When celebrities get married, people want to gamble on celebrities getting married.”

According to Kalshi, a prediction market platform, New York is currently leading as the top pick for the couple’s wedding location. Recent reports from CBS News confirmed an event application filed for a venue in or around Madison Square Garden on July 3, further fueling speculation of a potential celebration at the iconic venue.

Kalshi revealed that bets on the superstar wedding have already exceeded $4.5 million, with various predictions on the bridal party composition. Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, is currently the top pick for groomsman at 94%, while Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, and Kelce’s teammate, Patrick Mahomes, are also popular choices. For bridesmaids, Swift’s childhood best friend, Abigail Anderson Berard, leads the pack at 85%.

In a surprising trend, Kalshi has observed a significant increase in female traders participating in entertainment markets, with a doubling of the number of female traders in the past year alone. Cohen noted, “A Taylor Swift wedding, an event so clearly in the female fan wheelhouse, could be the way to break out of this male-dominated space and attract a more diverse audience.”
