Missouri man arrested after New Orleans terrorist allegedly used his bomb-making tutorials to carry out NYE attack

A recent arrest in Missouri has shed light on the dangerous consequences of posting bomb-making tutorials online. Jordan Derrick, a 40-year-old man, has been accused of filming and sharing videos on social media that demonstrate the creation of explosive materials, including detonators. These tutorials were allegedly downloaded by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the ISIS-affiliated terrorist responsible for the tragic New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans.

Jabbar, who carried out the attack by driving a truck into a crowd of revelers, utilized the step-by-step guides provided by Derrick to construct improvised explosive devices. The materials used in these devices, such as RDX, were reportedly found in Jabbar’s truck following the attack. Fortunately, the devices planted by Jabbar around Bourbon Street did not detonate as intended.

Despite the failed attempt, Jabbar was later killed in a confrontation with law enforcement. In light of these events, Derrick now faces a series of charges, including manufacturing explosives, possessing an unregistered destructive device, and distributing information related to the creation of explosives.

This alarming case serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who share potentially harmful information online. The ease of access to such tutorials highlights the need for increased vigilance and regulation to prevent individuals from using these resources to carry out acts of violence. It is crucial for authorities to take swift action to address the dissemination of dangerous materials and protect communities from potential threats.
