Six Injured After Floor Collapses at New Hampshire Wedding Venue

Six individuals were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries following a floor collapse at a wedding venue in Tamworth, New Hampshire. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The collapse occurred during a wedding celebration attended by around 140 guests, according to dispatch audio from first responders. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported in connection with the incident.

Efforts to reach the venue, the Preserve at Chocorua, were unsuccessful. Tamworth, a small town with a population of approximately 2,800 residents, is located about 115 miles north of Concord, New Hampshire.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers confirmed that multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene, but declined to provide further details on Saturday evening. Attempts to contact MaineHealth Memorial Hospital for additional information were also unsuccessful.

A spokesperson for the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office stated that their personnel were on-site and would be leading the investigation into the structural collapse.

An initial responder who arrived at the scene shortly after receiving 911 calls described half of the building’s floor, where the wedding ceremony was to take place, as having collapsed into the basement. Additional first responders were requested to interview witnesses, as approximately 145 individuals were in attendance at the event. The responder also noted the careful extraction of individuals from the building.
